Closely watched, and no supper was spilled

posted in food, politics |

It was my first time. This evening, in the shade of a fast food truck, I ordered and ate a container of “fries with the works”. Spoiler alert: even while dressed in a new shirt, I didn’t make a mess. Yes, there was surveillance (wife and gulls). Maybe I’ll go for a repeat before the end of the season. Or, I could have fish and chips. Open to the options.

Toys’R Us has new ownership. That’s good. Having easy access to Lego is a key detail in rebuilding infrastructure.

In  pro sports, the NHL is going to allow sponsorship patches on their jerseys. I can add nothing to such an important announcement.

Elsewhere in the NHL, a team has lost their arena lease. Not the legal paperwork, but the rights to a place to skate. And in the absence of an ice surface, their jerseys will matter much less.

In Sweden, they have announced the production of the first carbon-free steel. When questioned closer, the corrected detail: this would be steel that was smelted without burning coal. There will be carbon in the alloy. Whew! It’s the small details that turn this from an adventure in science into a scientific adventure.

The Ontario PC party sent out fake invoices, seeking contributions. When called out, the party said “Oops! Our bad” and then reiterated the wish for donations. Big donations, so that they could reduce the number of fake invoices required.

And finally, tomorrow will be Friday. At least that hasn’t required a corrective press release. Keeping up with the idiocy of politicians is a full time job for everyone else.
