A return to socially active
On social media, someone posted that the had forgotten how to pack for travel. I hear you. Something that I rarely did lapsed into “pretty much not at all”, and now I’d be left behind the rushing crowd if I needed to prep a suitcase.
This was my most sociable day in over two years. We started with a stop to buy beer and found some of my older relatives on site; no long chats while standing in the cash line, but it was a change from my usual day. And then, down to a yard part with a lot of people that I didn’t know. Still don’t. With any luck, they’ll recognize me going forward and break the social ice. And then, back in the home direction, for a community BBQ. I didn’t eat, but I did talk to folks that were last seen before the big shutdown. We’re slowly returning to normalcy. Plus, we got home before the bugs came out, so a winning situation for all of us.
And now I get to choose my supper. Or not. I think a bowl of grapes might be a balanced meal. With cheese. The dog is giving me that look; I’ll probably have to share my dairy. I had skipped all the other food offerings, so now I’ll pretend that my choice is ultra-healthy
On social media, someone looking for a place to buy a VCR. And the obvious question-response: “What’s a VCR?” History is a record of things that have changed, and a collection of videos is actually a record of a past culture.
