Technically, a juice box

posted in ham radio |

As proof of my patience, today the Fedex van returned. Not to get stuck in the ditch, but to deliver a purchas made bacin in August of last year. In real time, eight months. I pandemic time, meh.

Now, what did he buy this time (I can hear the kids saying). Without a questioning tone; more of a sigh and a shake of the head. Well, kids, I bought a battery in a box. A big battery (the tare weight is somewhere around 30kg. More than I want to lug for more than a step at a time). Here’s the thing; recharging can be done from “shore power”, car power or solar panels. Hurrah! More things to shop around for. We all know that the real fun comes from tracking down a bargain, given our genetic history as hunter/gatherers. Check “Point Zero” for more information.

As well ,we received a proper surge suppressor unit for the RV, in case we ever get to leave home. The last time was about two years ago, but I am an optimist by nature. Until then, I will continue to save and shop… solar panels are so modern!

There’s also a sigh of relief from the family budgetr. We paid the money, up front, many months ago. And then we waited, hoping that this wasn’t a huge fraud game. I mea, receivng an email is not the same os werceiving the Fedex guys, right? I can now prodly demonstrate the gadgets to any (other) geek that happens by. Proof of my solid background in technical madness. Or as I like to think of it, full autonomy for my radio station, in case of an emergency. See; sounds better already.
