Hesitant to hole-punch

posted in environment, technology, Wx |

My common sense (yes, I have a little) keeps me from chasing storms. If I’m in the area, I’ll watch, but there is no way that I’m going to try and catch the noise. So, while we were out this evening, playing squirrel taxi, I did keep a keen eye on the sky above me. Good chance to admire clouds in very non-intuitive patterns.

About the same time, our preferred campground caught some of the same shock and awe, when a big blue bolt touched the roof of one of the overnighter cottages. In another life, I would have been in a tent, right next door, learning how to pray.

We did have a couple of power bumps this afternoon (grumble, grumble, clock resets). Given that Environment Canada cancelled our storm warning WHILE the storm was passing overhead, I’m going to make the assumption that their “on the ground” person is a long way away, and relies on a magic 8-Ball for such things.

No matter. Evening is at hand, and I’m faced with another problem. There are new walls in place, downstairs. My wifi system has changed its coverage of the house, and now I have to decide on a new place to place at least one of the routers. The right to punch holes in walls and floors is conferred with the ownership of the house, but I want to be responsible for as little damage as possible. Have to think this through. For tonight, I’ll accept that my internet is worse than before. Tomorrow, I’ll chase my dream of better bandwidth with a drill bit.
