Down here, at the end of the road
Living at the end of the road, I take my connections to the outside world very seriously. Two nights now, the electricity has gone off, reminding me of the wisdom of having installed “genny” in the back yard. My neighbours aren’t as protected from the cold and the dark. Similarly, the tenuous connection to the Internet means accepting no news at times.
Right now, I’ve climbed back on the back of the web, but it could throw me off without warning. I’m writing under duress.
The car went for its a/c test, early this morning, and failed. We now face the most expensive repair yet to our little rogue; just in time to turn the keys over to one of the kids, while we climb into a (yet to be delivered) new rig. I’ve only seen photos, and a bit of YouTube coverage, but I trust we’ll be satisfied. If not…
My solar energy planning took another step forward this afternoon. I found a dealer in the US that would ship me product without UPS effort, and now I wait. My hope is that I can power my radios, on occasion. And, maybe, the laptop. Supposed to be possible, although I don’t have my finger on the way everything will be cobbled together. Hey, that’s the fun of new stuff; you get to learn while you play.
Son #3 had complaints, earlier today, when he received an unexpected pay cheque. It would seem that he hasn’t developed a record keeping system that would remove the surprise factor. I mean, I know that large corporations (and governments) never spend money on salaries without documenting the process. I guess the kid hasn’t made that logical connection.
