Ready to go, if ever we can
With all the enthusiasm spring can muster, I removed a couple of things from my list of things to do before it no longer matters. The RV is now ready to visit somewhere. Yes, the range of possible destinations is limited, but I wanted to get rid of my plumbing antifreeze. Hence, time spent rediscovering the various valves and spitcocks that hide behind things.
Getting “dewinterized” requires a checklist, and a certain level of flexibility. My bend and stretch routine. Getting down with my nose to the ground allows me to open the fresh water reservoir and enlist gravity for the first part of the duties. Out goes the pink stuff, and a few minutes later, in goes the water. I still need to sanitize, but checking for any leaks is a requirement. So far, there are none.
Next, turn on the pump and circulate water to all the usual locations. Again, other than the trumpet effect as air is purged, nothing untoward. I can’t speak to the hot water system, yet. Right now, I’m waiting for an emergency.
On the other side of the house, I overcame my fear of heights and brought the stepladder on to the deck. It’s not likely to induce vertigo, but I worry when I do stuff like this by myself: what if I fell, and wasn’t discovered for hours? Oh, right. What I was doing was installing my two shiny antennas (VHF/UHF) and routing the new coaxial cable from there to inside. All done, and I will do some tests, soon. I promise. Nowadays, I tend to stretch out the pleasure involved in my technology.
