Are they among us?
Here’s today’s “little known fact”, for those of you that wondered: if the sun is supposed to rise at a given time, it will. Your decision to travel for ten minutes when you only have five available means that you will not make it on time. Next.
I have a new radio here, and it appears that I will have to read the manual. The problem isn’t the radio (essentially a black box). We are now in the world of SDR, and the software is magnitudes more complicated than what I’m used to. I come with a lot of baggage, but my attempts to change the frequency were doomed. Maybe tomorrow, after a good night’s sleep, it will all appear clearly (as in a dream) and I’ll manage to tune in something. Or, I’ll discover that my antenna is in fail mode, after a winter of my not checking things out. At this point, anything is possible.
I find myself solving math puzzles. For example, “What percentage of the population is now contagious”? Or, “are we similar to other jurisdictions”? Worthless information, but the distraction of recalling simple high school math takes me back to a better time.
Another result of our current medical situation is a rising paranoia. People now want to know if “those summer people” are back, hiding in their cottages. Like a scene from a bad movie: “Are they among us”? Hardly a manner to treat your neighbours, even if they are seasonal. It’s going to be a long summer, if we’re fearful of everyone (else) on the beach.
