Unexpected need for a math review
This afternoon saw me preparing a mathematics lesson for son #3. Specifically: how to calculate the ratios involved in preparing a disinfectant for home use. He’s starting to worry about these things, for the first time (ever). I’m impressed that he wants to learn, and worried that he has to. Six months ago, this wasn’t on our radar.
Meanwhile, son #1 has learned that a co-worker might be a viral mess, and he’s trying to calculate how long a worksheet might have to spend in the microwave oven. I can’t make this stuff up. Again, not one of those things we had ever talked about while waiting for supper to reheat.
Son #2 is, at least, aware of the necessity to keep things clean. That’s part of his professional life, and it now becomes relevant to “due care and attention in the home”. All good. I just hope that this remains as a theoretical exercise, rather than a practical one.
Here, I don’t have visitors, and the dog is probably unlikely to serve as a vector. After all, he doesn’t like strangers, either. Of course, his bark (and his bite, maybe) will keep the wary at more than arm’s reach. I watch the snow levels drop, watch the forecasts; in general, watch. Will there be a planting season? It seems likely, and even here at home the seed catalogs are out for some order mockups. If we won’t be (likely) to travel this spring, we might as well get our own stocks of beans and leaves. I had better decide what my strawberry plan will be, as the plants now in the flat are believed to be worn out.
