Missed my pickup

posted in environment, ham radio |

My bad. Not being attentive to the calendar means that we get to “keep” our garbage for another two weeks. The bin is half (full or empty), so no impending overflow, but mixing Wednesday with Thursday does matter. I’ve wheeled the monster back in from the curb, so few of the neighbours will even notice… unlike the summer folk that put their out much earlier than scheduled, and leave them out to the point where even raccoons despair.

Proof that I don’t wander enough; I noticed, today, some breakage in the mishmash of trees across the road. No valuable lumber there. Just old black spruce (the predominant species of mishmash in this area. Given the wet nature of the ground over there, the windfall will remain visible for many moons.

I don’t own a chainsaw. By design. MY trees are meant to remain. Just having a mechanical toy that would invite cutting and stacking would be overkill. You know how it works: cut logs invite fireplaces, and that can’t be good what with global warming and all. Besides, if I want to sit outside, I can bring an artificial light along. Thoroughly modern me.

In the mail, a junction box. Ordered for containment of a variable capacitor (to prevent others from sampling high RF voltage, unknowingly.) As soon as my reduction gears arrive from MFJ, I can begin experimentation. I’ll post photos, once I move beyond the brain plan. No, I’ll abstain from YouTube efforts, because this is my answer to expensive stuff. Others have already elaborated plans, and I am a follower.
