The music has returned
Several months back, the music stopped. Seems much longer, in retrospect. You see, I have really grown attached to a small Internet radio receiver based on one of my Raspberry Pi boards. The system worked very well, until an update came along and caused a cascade of problems. I tried going “back”, but never managed to succeed. And so, in the blink of an eye, my access to good retro music vanished.
I had other things to do, and managed to tough things out. I can still sing to myself. Happily, the latest update (they are furnished as software blobs that you download, transfer to an available SD card and insert into the side of the receiver) works. Very well. Right now, Radio Caroline is back in my home. Just in time for the internet to fail, or worse.
Locally, we’re waiting on the storm. The weather people have been “dinging” the phone, all afternoon. On social media, new maps and warning pages. We’ve been upgraded; from a tropical storm to a Class One ride on the hurricane express. Still a full day to go, which means that things can change (completely). Meanwhile, south of Halifax, folks are urged to (voluntarily) evacuate. The PEI EMO suggests filling the bathtub with water (would you drink from your bath?) and getting cash from the ATM. Not sure it works that simply, but I have reminded others that this might be part of a new wealth distribution scheme, or at least a way to pay for needed #stormchips. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.
