Regarding bugs

posted in computing, economy |

When life is as strange as a comic book story: the US Congress has voted to require a detailed report on whether “weaponized ticks” were used, years ago. I couldn’t make up a story like this. Seems that there is evidence that disease-bearing insects were considered for use as a battlefield vector. Now the elected watchdogs want to know if any might have escaped into the world at large. Check the dog, please.

I hear about this sort of thing, and wonder what sort of evil minds are dressed in fancy uniforms with a chest full of “fruit salad”. Dolphins in harness.  Monkeys in space. Who knows what all else? Aren’t guns enough?

We’ve started the reno cycle. First up, returning a small load of lumber, because the lengths of the “logs” were insufficient. That was just a glitch, hopefully, and the new longer pieces are in the basement, ready to serve as the structure of a closet that will improve my life quality. As well, I called the HVAC people, again, to appeal to their better sentiments. It would be nice if the new water pipes and new wires were in place, before the new ceiling. Cart after horse, etc. I can hope, given that my patience is judged to be infinite.

And now that the financial institution that “lost” my data has offered a free five years of credit surveillance, I’ve been trying to enroll for the service, throughout the afternoon. I completed the online forms, twice. Now I’m trying to get through to a real attendant, since the virtual part failed miserably. Of course, their phone line (one) is busy for the last few hours. I did learn that my telephone has a redial button…
