Needing the right valve
The klaxon of a large truck reversing into the lane served as my call to attention, this morning. We knew that the hardware store would begin their delivery runs today; but, so early? The load wasn’t large, and served more as a proof of concept than anything else.
I don’t have a timeline for our renovations. There will be times when work is interrupted by visitors and other obligations. Getting things started seems important. In fact, as soon as my morning coffee had been poured, I headed downstairs to empty the first room. We have sufficient space to allow movement of furniture to another sector, and I was able to remove all of my temporary cabling from the (soon to be) ceiling. With a quick round of dust removal, I declared the area ready for transformation.
I’ve also been taking a refresher course in bathroom plumbing. Specifically, what kind of temperature control will make a shower better (or worse than not at all). It’s easy to forget that all those showroom stalls hide the real magic from view. I now know some of the terms that are used (rough-in valve) and to be aware that anything with too many “ports” will eventually turn into leak remediation. All we really require is something that can mix hot and cold, while keeping the pressure constant before sending the mix to our nozzle of choice. Oh, and PEX is not the same as copper. I mean, I knew that, but it helps to search with a specific goal in mind.
Our attempt to send stuff to landfill was thwarted by a locked gate. Tomorrow, if it doesn’t rain.
