When the rubber meets the road
Something has changed, in the world of American Idol. The show, perhaps without planning to, has matured. I’m watching the auditions for the current season, and the gimmicks are gone. Nothing left but great talent, and I get the feeling that the next few months are going to be worth sitting down and watching. It’s been a while since I could say that; I’m glad the compass has stopped swinging wildly.
We were out in the car, briefly, this afternoon. The change to a new season has really started. This picture is from a couple of days ago, but it shows that we can probably put away the heavy boots and shovels.

I received the back half of a kit I ordered several weeks back. I’m going to get a chance to play in the world of Arduino. No project ideas, yet. There’s a ton of information on the web, so home study won’t be hard, and I can review a lot of stuff I learned in other hobby areas, over the years.
My spam phone calls, increasingly, are in Mandarin. No, I don’t understand, and I don’t know how they got my number, but obviously the demographics are shifting, if even my spam is in another language.
Here’s something from the news: a man tried to claim that his tires were worn out prematurely. Checked the warranty, placed his call, got rebuffed completely. The old line about “not worth the paper it was written on” does apply to the rubber that meets the road. Seriously. I hope the manufacturer appreciates just how much their refusal to treat a client properly actually cost them.
