Missing the problem
I can’t claim that I really DID anything today, unless you count a small amount of computer maintenance. The challenging type: a laptop bag with a typical product, and no documentation. As in, did this just stop by to see if my coffee was good?
I’ve had years of guessing intentions, so I simply sat down and waited to see if there were any obvious hiccups after startup. There weren’t, other than a bit of malware that was identified and removed by the installed antivirus software. Of course, system updates are always available, so I did the usual updates. Almost a zen thing, by now. And somewhere late in the afternoon, I decided that this was no longer anybody’s emergency. Now to find the rightful owner and return the computer, sometime tomorrow. An excuse to go for a ride.
The latest weather satellite photos show the province slowly thawing out. Open water along more than half of the perimeter. That tallies with the view from my window. With six weeks to go before any need to throw lobster cages overboard, the spring might be relaxed.
And so, what else? Well, she who walks in the woods and the fields gave the new pair of snowshoes a trial. Less surface area than our regular models, which means that only those with a BMI within approved limits need try them. Anyone else will find the walking encumbered. I didn’t even don my shoes this winter; insufficient snow cover. Someone else posted photos taken on this date across five years, and we really got off easy this season. Yes, I believe that the climate is morphing.
