On the cusp of a record stretch

posted in economy, Wx |

Oh look, another ration of daylight coming to an end. I have that “indoor lighting” equipment that equalizes the force field. Best get ready to throw the switches and settle down for the dark time.

My internet was hopeless, today. Not only was my feed slow, but my ecommerce attempts were thwarted by servers timing out. That won’t sit well with the rich and powerful. I even had to turn off my Radio Caroline feed and revert to CBC reruns. Not good.

Inside the Amazon “box of the day”, tiny pods of coffee. Not sure if these qualify as “fresh ground bean”, but while we’re on the road, our real espresso machine will get a rest. We’ve got a fallback machine, hence the pods. Trying to rationalize the inherent flaw here; recycling as an abandoned principle. I understand we can collect the pods and mail them back to the provider, but there has to be a better way of doing things. I’ll be watching for a small form factor machine, as my Aeropress alternative has been rejected by she who casts the swing vote. I can’t use the “we’re really camping” line much longer.

The Island has tied its record for “longest stretch of consecutive days with a humidex greater than 30C”. Guess we’ll move into unshared territory by tomorrow, since the heat warnings continue. I actually called the AC guy today; we’re ready to install the other half of our heating system, based on the emerging trend of “too hot to move”. And his price estimate, of course. Yes, I stay inside where the sun doesn’t shine.
