When a freezer becomes a chair

posted in economy, travel |

When we left to spend time in the local furniture store, my expectations were simple. I wanted to know what options were available, should the return home reveal a miracle. Something akin to “busted freezer not d.o.a.”. Instead, we now have a new armchair.

Not yet, mind you. The store doesn’t deliver in our sector. Heck, they couldn’t even find our postal code in their system. Either postal code (one of the mysteries of where we live). The chair will come home in an emptier car, in a few months. I will remain behind, freeing up room in the vehicle. Eating food from the freezer. Uh oh… personal GPS recalculating, anticipating how to live on pasta and rice for days on end.

Anyhow, this has been our superstore for ages. We didn’t buy another zoom lens, but the house has a new Bluetooth speaker to provide background noise.

And on to the next box store, where I acquired a pair of bottom-of-the-line sneakers. $20. Sweet deal for trainer bike shoes.

This was the first dog-free afternoon in ages (son #1 simply added our hound to his household pack).

Started reading a book by Bruno Blanchet, penned in 2004. I want to continue, but I’m in a queue. Maybe there’s a personal copy waiting for me to seek and discover (it).

And the evening moves along slowly, with the most recent Pink Floyd album providing counterpoint to my thoughts. This is my first day in “Handsome Harbour” for several years now. Not sure the citizens even realize that I’ve returned.
