Closing the page on this yearbook

Look at the time! Better put my life on autopilot; ahead lies the year-end synopsis with Jean-René “Infoman” Dufort, followed by Bye-Bye.

My bruised tendon left me with no desire to go “out and about”, so I stayed in the motel room with the dog. Couldn’t resist the challenge, and our new Bluetooth speaker is now charged and tested with both iPads.

Meals are inevitable… out to find a restaurant that wasn’t closed for this evening. Settled on the nearby Vieux Duluth, where the food is of known quality and excessive quantity. When asked, the waiter provided a take-out tray; the dog enjoyed his portion of grilled chicken.

And now, as I mentioned, the wait. Tick tock.

Lookng back, the year went well. No serious illness, or financial calamity, or even sunburn. We saw some new examples if wildlife in the yard and Tall Ships from the deck. There were some minor roadtrips (including the current randonnée which is going to end with us racing a snowstorm into the lane). I managed to get together with all of my family plus a host of others (57 for Xmas Eve); tonight will be more restrained.

Over the year, I tried some new things, musically. I extended my handyman skill set. I even tried some new foods (although nothing comes to mind). I became involved in the production of a history book. Helped with setting up some concerts. Even learned about the “care and feeding” of a kayak/kayaker. Proof that learning is a life long activity.  Now, let’s put ‘17 to bed and get ready to write ‘18 in its place.
