Trivia for the family

posted in environment, technology |

After skipping the trip to town, this morning, I was under a certain obligation to go out this evening. A trivial obligation, where “the team” continued the tradition of “the win”. Actually, we’re moving into another year without defeat, which is far from trivial.

The key to anything involving community is the ability to multi-task conversations. Not dozens, but many. Catching up on the local news: “How’s your rotator cuff?” or “Did you get the sheet metal for your trailer project?”. District news: “Did your house sell?” or “Do you know that dog that wanders up and down the road?”. Commerce: “Can I get the car fixed next week?” Actually, it could have been Wednesday, but there’s a trip to Moncton on that day, so it will be Tuesday. No stress at any point in the game.

Son #2 came along for the experience and proved to have bits of (trivial) knowledge that the rest of the team lacked. Could be we’ll have to get him down for the rest of the winter…

Around the house, for the afternoon, I had nothing else to do but amuse the dogs and watch others play video games. Not my usual pattern. After all, the (XBox? PS3?) has been holding a place on a shelf for over a year. Good to see gear getting used, even if I don’t intend to start gaming myself. Some tricks this old dog won’t learn. I’m content to watch and wonder just what the goal is meant to be. Good soundtrack, though.
