Slowing the vacation express

posted in food |

In parallel with my life, my desktop has changed to “Windows 7 Basic”. I don’t know why; I’m not bothered enough to spend precious Google time finding out how to reset things back. It’s been a long day, and my priorities lie elsewhere.

Son #3 is on the road back home. I did my best sell, offering a renewed start here, but he has other fish to fry. No fishing pole, no frying pan. I’m looking forward to the next chapter. Meanwhile, the others are slowly coasting the vacation express to a stop, in order to pack and retreat. Summer is too short!

I did put the tent (overflow sleeping space) away, dry. That’s a minor success. Too many seasons in the rain have taught me that wet nylon is a perfect growth media.

We (the remaining members of this summer’s quorum) had gone to the city. A chance to try the food in the new “ribs” chain restaurant. Not bad; I can do better, but it requires effort. I’m getting better at ordering the right amount of food for my own appetite. The waitress let us in on her own secret; working tables is for the fun of it, as her real profession involves accounting practices. I wouldn’t have the energy (for either vocation). Assuring the different orders at any given table is already an exercise in juggling. To then report to a cubicle later in the week and try to make the columns balance seems a tortured existence.

The N-Koreans seem to have figured out the trick to making a bigger bomb work. Doesn’t make me sleep any easier.
