The table headcount is down, slightly

posted in environment, food |

Earlier this week, I happened to listen to one of the streaming services (Spotify, without naming names). Came across a compilation of Can-con from about two decades back that suited my particular tastes. Of course, the album is no longer sold, but with the able assistance of Amazon and a small shop in the Nat-Cap, I placed an order. The CD arrived this afternoon. Now that’s great service!

Our headcount around the table dropped by two this morning. Vacations with fixed start and end dates, etc. I’m still putting multiple runs of dishes through the Maytag, but the need to hotseat is over. Plus, my BBQ has enough space to cook things without the stress of “is it all going to be done?”.

The weather (here) is holding up; the beach is a popular destination for those who live in the concrete jungle. Even a short rainshower doesn’t discourage. On the other hand, by the time I shut down my outdoor kitchen, I needed a polar. Temperatures drop quickly once the sun sets.

This part of the world in now watching, intently, two hurricanes that have formed up farther south. After the debacle in Houston, we worry about things getting out of control. Wind and rain, normally – nothing to turn the head. A full-fledged storm, though; take that seriously, please. There is a tent on the lawn which should come down while things are dry. Tomorrow? I’ll survey those directly affected before pulling any pegs.

I’m not part of the cult, but this was a special day for Potter fans. Something about school starting for the next generation. Will JK get back to writing, or will fan fiction fester?
