Waiting for the key to the shackle
So many new tunes… I know what I like, and I quickly recognize that which I don’t. It’s just… so many. If I was to do nothing else but listen from now until the end of (my) time, I’d hardly dent the playlist. How then to get direction?
My plan to produce new content for the world is on the slow track, and I fear that the engine is running on low/no steam. Last evening’s concert only reinforced just how far I am from the point that I would like to reach. That practice thing. If only taking a nap wasn’t so good.
Used to be, hearing a new tune meant seeking out another performer. Now, we have YouTube. Full audio and video of whatever moment I choose. Perhaps I should just sit and listen for a bit, until the urge to create overpowers. Can you be that patient, world at large?
Totally unrelated: the CRTC today announced that the hated “unlock” charge for owned cellphones will disappear. In six months or so. Nothing technically difficult here, just the willingness of the government to allow the telecomm industry to continue their siphon for a wee bit longer. We currently have three or four devices that are apt to lose the shackle. I’d like to be able to get one of those pay-as-you-go deals that I’ve heard about. Slip in a SIM for a day in the city. As long as the phone company realizes that I’m playing the long game here. No more useless money to their shareholders.
