Local alarm clock variation
A local version of an alarm clock: a cold dog nose to the armpit. Gets you up and moving. In this case, a quick march up the road and back, to take care of basic needs (on the part of the dog) and give me a chance to “feed” the local mosquitoes. Not nearly as much fun as it sounds. The bugs figured out that the dog was as much a donor as yours truly, and that prompted a little more speed from the chief inspector of roadside odours.
