Dune domains

Given the number of cottages that are nestled in the dunes, a lot of people have been misled by the movies. I can’t figure out any other reason for the places we spotted, this afternoon.

No eggs any more

Memory won’t get you fed. This morning, we remembered that a particular bakery in Montague “did” breakfast. We went on down, and then we learned that things change with the passing years. Yes, I had coffee and cinnamon rolls, but the bacon and eggs and bacon will have to wait. Although, I did have a good feed of bacon in town, yesterday, so I’ll be OK for another day or two.

A hitching (post)

The big day is now behind us. What with the need to pick up new glasses, and install a trailer hitch, and take delivery of the new bicycle, my partner has been anxious. Me, not so much, but I did have to supervise the project. Hence the big wages and job title.

Virtual faces from my past

How do you remember faces from high school? I mean, once you’ve moved on, not while you still answer to the call of the bell. For most of us, the timeworn tradition of the school yearbook is all we have to remember a lot of people.

On the rack over a rack

Back last week, I was involved in the ordering of a new bicycle. And since the plan did not include riding the new purchase over hill and dale to home, a plan was hatched to provide transport. On our car. Of course, the idea of carrying an extra bicycle came without any hardware, and so the dance begins.

Under the secret cover

Took a long time to get things started this morning, but our day was no less effective in consequence. There were rain showers; the only place reporting any wet weather was where I chose to be. However, we knew that breakfast would taste better under a dry roof; it did.

Imagination in an art supply store

Encouraged by the boat catching exercise yesterday, I decided to try the experience again. Sort of. I did return to the ferry dock, and the boat did come in, but this time it returned the passenger to my care. Interesting variation.

Boats and pirates

From now on, I’ll finish the phrase “You have to get up pretty early in the morning” by this: “to catch a boat”. We saw the sun rise, in the rear view mirror, as we crossed Souris before tracking south to Wood islands. And we arrived before the anchor weighed (I know, there isn’t an anchor per se. Bear with me).

Rain song

The song for today is an oldie: Here comes the rain again. There; a musical weather report.

To be fair, we had a beautiful summer forenoon. Sitting around the campground, chatting up the neighbours (who were all leaving, to make way for the next generation of friends you haven’t met yet). Commenting on a cool green trailer with a distinct military style. Turned out that it was U-Haul surplus, which is close enough. Trying  to find new friends for dogs, by presenting hands that had got too close to a stranger. In real life, that doesn’t accomplish a thing. The dogs will flinch or fight according to their own priorities which are invisible to the common man.

About racks

A change in routine today. After acceding to a request for “a lift”, the back seat of the car was rearranged, to make one more seat available. And then, off to town, with someone new in the conversation equation. Akin to adding spice to a familiar soup; within the hour we were downtown and ready to rumble.
