Under the secret cover

posted in technology, travel |

Took a long time to get things started this morning, but our day was no less effective in consequence. There were rain showers; the only place reporting any wet weather was where I chose to be. However, we knew that breakfast would taste better under a dry roof; it did.

With the essentials of sound nourishment squared away, we decided to watch the boat come in. An event. I even managed to snag a few photos before going into that powered down mode that ends up with a nap (a power nap?)

On the roads today, the line painting machine seemed to be everywhere. Traffic-bound tourists don’t read, and the smearing of new yellow and white traces will leave summer in the minds of many, long after the thrill, etc.

The afternoon passed quickly. I had agreed to transfer a large database from one version of software to another, and the elapsed time counted down in groups of thirty at a go, until the more than 275,000 items had crossed from the DOS world to Win7.

No day is complete without a leisurely; mine involved steak and salad. And now I’m sitting in a trailer/boat storage area, bemoaning the discharged laptop battery and trying to wax eloquent. Oh, yes; yesterday a city pawn shop agreed to sell us another Flip camera at an “all sales final” price. The battery doesn’t seem to hold a charge, but this one has the option of swapping out the cell for something better.  I discovered the secret cover plate while removing the price tag. I discovered theI’ll start shopping, forthwith.
