Super steam effects

With the day behind us, I am suffering the scourge of a toothache. No easy cure, this far from home, but I will try to sleep my way through. Oh for my home pharmacy!

Visiting the local falls

Our long ride, yesterday, served to remind us. This is not a sprint. Better to register for another night and spend today in exploration. Create a few memories, etc.

Today, two states

Trying to estimate travel times, despite the best gadgets and data from Google, saw us doing that proverbial last mile in the dark. It doesn’t help that a mile is now a foreign concept.

A new accumulator

As we continue along this never-ending highway, the differences between campgrounds are pronounced. KOA has meant bounty: good water and elecricity, hot showers, even wi-fi with limits. Taking aim at their competition, none of the above are assured. In fact, one site wanted a fee just to be parked in their overflow area, forget the amenities.

Updating day

Over fresh coffee in the campground office, we realized that this would be a good base for local exploration. As those around us packed and headed home, we paid for a second evening, at a discount. And then, off to see what the area had to amaze.

Crossed calm waters

Our first attempt at boondocking went without woe. We didn’t bother with the “raise shields” routine; the fog from three sentient beings blocked the view from the outside. Matching memories

Our island adventure begins

We ran out of hills. Took days, but finally the road went flat, and we found ourselves near water. Rush hour on a Friday afternoon is not optimal timing, but we carried on,  Ahead, a convenient ferry terminal, as an added attraction, so we did the natural thing. We sailed away.

Ups and downs and lots of leaves

I don’t understand this whole concept of a mountain range. Yesterday, we drove for hours in a north-south direction. Lots of ups and downs. Today, we drove for hours in an east-west direction. Lots more ups and downs. How big is this thing? Don’t answer, because I know its the Rockies. Blame me, a noob.

A marked change on the horizon

A very different day, in terms of “the view from my window”. We headed west from the Edmonton area, intending to drive until it was time to stop.outside, rural ordinary, until around mid-morning, on the horizon. Unlike the usual clouds.
