Super steam effects
With the day behind us, I am suffering the scourge of a toothache. No easy cure, this far from home, but I will try to sleep my way through. Oh for my home pharmacy!
We left Idaho, after a complete tank dump and fill. And, although I need another look at the map, this may be our first three-state visit. I grew up with Yogi and Boo-Boo, so Yellowstone was an obvious destination. The Interstate network goes there too, naturally. Along the way we decided to dine with “Albert and Walter” (more bears) which will have to do, as we saw no bruins en route. Bison, yes. No matter. There’s still tomorrow. Their menu was very different from home; cod, shrimp, home style root beer.
Now to get to the highlights of the day. Vapour. Scalding mud. Geysers! Truly novel, although much like in the movies. The warnings are clear. Don’t walk on the gravel, or near the vent holes. Things can go really wrong, rapidly. I don’t want to melt my runners, so I abstained. As for the tourist density? Visit early in the season.
We had a few moments of hail, and there is snow in the trails. Not summer just yet. As for agriculture, this part of the continent irrigates. A lot. I only spotted one conveyor channelling spuds, but not everything borders the highway.
Hard to get the rig level this evening, so we made a mercy request to move to another space. With a gravel pad. We’ll see how it goes in a few minutes.
