A new accumulator
As we continue along this never-ending highway, the differences between campgrounds are pronounced. KOA has meant bounty: good water and elecricity, hot showers, even wi-fi with limits. Taking aim at their competition, none of the above are assured. In fact, one site wanted a fee just to be parked in their overflow area, forget the amenities.
This feels like a really long day, in retrospect. We’ve been avoiding the fact that our vehicle battery has no reserves, and the one attempt to have a new one installed at a west coast Canadian Tire was rebuffed. M-B has software that needs resets afterwards (fault codes, in dealerspeak). We’ve used the cabin batteries to get us back in motion, and today, in a metropolis, we decided to seek a real dealer and get things fixed.
An adventure, really. M-B is important enough to compartmentalize. Our first try, after driving into the service building of the auto section has a polite refusal. Continue, on down the road, to our van section; naturally, they too were booked for weeks, but a local transport truck affiliate could help. Without a GPS, nothing would ever get done, but by late afternoon we had a new battery. We cleared their lot just before the gate with the 7500V “reminder to thieves” was switched on.
And then we left the city. We are now in an RV park, but the wifi code was not available to those who arrive after hours and pit cash in an envelope. So be it. Tomorrow we’ll find another state to challenge our preconceptions.
