Cheap water
Don’t trust the label, at least when it comes to bottled beverages. The FDA has taken umbrage with certain national firms and their claims. In particular, green tea.

Time to mark another change of season. Locally the temperature has dropped by a dozen degrees, the wind has picked up and the humidity has dropped. And the Rouge et Or have won their game.

I once played with the idea of having someone make me a bumper sticker. Nothing too political, or inspirational. Instead, a tag that would brag of a completed event. Something akin to the fairy tale reputation, of having “Killed ten with one blow”. I wanted to let the world know that “I drove the road to Meat Cove!”

Minor oil spill in the Montreal area last evening, after a freighter went aground. No, the bottom wasn’t rising, and the charts were as accurate as can be expected. Rather, someone has been playing with the level of the Great Lakes again. Keeping cottage owners happy, etc. For the ships that navigate in controlled waters, they have to carry booms to deal with oil that goes astray. Just part of the cost of doing business.

And had a short reception for 500 complete strangers in the back yard. Here’s hoping that someone picked up the napkins and cuke sandwiches.

What did it all mean? After three short days, the deficit is larger and our government has promised to reduce that same deficit. By calculation, we won’t be having another G8/20 next year.

With the arrival of a big airplane, carrying a famous passenger who needed to transfer to his big helicopter, the most expensive weekend party in Canadian history began. Never doubt the ability of a government to spend beyond its means.

The French foot fans are in shock. After showing the world that their dirty laundry is best refolded in public, the numbers came back into the equation. The national team is history (for this series).
