Give your networks some TLC

posted in Uncategorized |

Did you give your networks the love and respect they deserve today? Plural, for a reason. Most of us are unaware of how many  ways we make use of shared assets,  in all aspects of our lives.

Let me prod your memory. The roads? The phones? The water and  associated  details in your home.  The net; which might be the  best one of all, as long as you have electricity which is probably another  networked asset.  Seriously.  Try to imagine  yourself, sitting  like a lump on a rock. Without networking that will be the start and the finish.

Imagine the pain we all face when something is unavailable. Not  very often.

It is not very long ago that we drove around at night, trying to find open access to the net. Now, I am trying to make my home a happy place, with multiple ways to attach my gadgets to other gadgets. Magic, compared to not too long ago.

And do not get me started on the  getting set to improve our home network. The Tpc/IP one. But it requires so much more to actually do anything, and because some brilliant minds designed a system that is extensible, I  get what I want, all day, all night.

The price is right as well. I can buy topnotch components for a fraction of what I would have paid a decade ago. I can also afford to have spare parts. I would have bought a new piece of Ethernet cable today until we found three in a box.
