Then she turned and returned

I feel like I am back in school. Not the better times. More like the times when I had no idea what was going on, but I continued each day waiting for the impossible. A lightning bolt of understanding, as I slogged through the quicksand of my math classes. One that would harden the sand and let me escape to safer shores.

In math, that never actually happened. Like so many others, I achieved enough points on tests to shift the balance just enough to send me on to the next year. Hardly a proper education.

Right now, I am trying to calculate how many batteries I would need to emulate “shore power”. I think I understand the basics, but that isn’t enough to allow committing to a purchase. I might get committeed, though. Apparently batteries rarely explode in this context.

We had a second snow day in a row. No, not my concern. Outside, things were nasty. Icy. A power failure overnight. I guess we’ve moved into a new season. There might be some ice in the Strait, as well. We watched a large freighter stop just offshore and then eventually turn around and return to somewhere. That’s something I haven’t seen before. ( didn’t see it this time, but I heard about it from my onsite narrator. The back story remains a mystery. Could the captain have forgotten his lunch? Perhaps I’ll find out in the next episode of life near the shore.

And with that, I’ll call today a wrap, find a reason to go back to bed and await tomorrow.
