Fewer fever dreams

posted in Uncategorized |

I ADMIT IT. On sume subjects, I am late to the table. Part of my charm, I tell myself. The world is slowly moving on from our pandemic, and I have finally spotted a real result.

In the technology sector, the treadmill has slowed down. In short, not as much new stuff available. Try to imagine the Xmas catalgoe, where the toy pages were reprinted, over and over again. I pay too much attention to things it might be fun to own, if I had a fatter revenue stream. And right now, no surprises. The same radio gear that I was drooling over several years ago is still front and center. No new models. The same thing for photo gear. What I would have wanted to own, a decade ago, is still state of the art. And that means someone derailed the train.

We went for our flu shot, this afternoon. That was hign on my want list, because I have been spoiled by pharma. I haven’t had a real fever dream in almost two decades. No deep seated cough. Aches and pains? Few and far between. No flu, year after year. And yes, I think my affection for my shot is the reason. Once I clued in that sick days (not taken) at work allowed me to up the days of vacation in summer, I was convinced. Only the mechanism shifted. Those odd queues in empty shoppng centres were a moment of calm crowd control. Of course, now, I just stop by the local pharmcy, where they know my name and get the needle ready.
