Night wandering
My night are rarely long stretches of deep sleep. Not enogh physical effort to require it, I assume. So, when I come awake to unusual sounds, I’m ready to find out what and why. Last night, I heard a strange noise; a door moving back and forth. Of course, there is a dog that has hie own schedule.
However, when I came into the kitchen area, and there was cold water underfoot, I had to find out more. Yes, there was an area near the table, reaching to the open door out to the deck. Not normal. Also, there was no dog on hand, also not normal.
First things first. Close the door, against a mounting wind with rain. Lay down some towels, to collect my new pool. And look for the dog. Deep dark, with a black dog. All we could do was call (the dog is also somewhat hard of hearing, and then wait for dawn.
The dog did come back, in sync with my wishes and the chorus of bird song. My guess is that a gust blew the door open (unlocked from my going outside for corree, hours before. We have other moments when the dog goes off to explore the world he rarely enjoys. Again, my bad; I generally leep him inside, to guard the box of dog treats. And tonight, I will double check that door, and latch it with a key. The dog has spent the day asleep, so I assume he took great joy from a wander in the night. Silly dog.
I reqquired an extra hour of sleep, just because. No night wander on my schedule.
