Showing restraint as a spectator
I have limited, specific preferences in the sports I watch on TV. For anyone that tries to follow certain sports, you need subscriptions to specialty channels. In our case, trying to watch Canadian university football is very difficult. However, I do get to watch curling tournaments. One is sponsored by two products: hygenic tissues and farm machinery. And I have watched for enough years to actually recognize names and faces. Quite a feat!f
This year’s rock throwing is underway, and I watched two matches, so far today. Still time for another. I admit that I don’t see things with the same definition as before, but I did not the absence of “Laser Eyes”. She is off seeking gold, at the Olympic level.
Have to mention the Games. This morning, we were part of the worldwide audience for the official opening ceremonies, with a snowflake theme. The announcers remindedl us, for hours, that they have better access to trivia than most. Learning that one country holds a medal for Architecture that the rest of us that we know nothing about the business, nor do we care, very much. The torch lit the cauldron on cue, and the dancers in colourful costumes seemed endless in diversity and number. World class, in a huge npd tp the host nation.
Schools stayed closed due to inclement weather. Our power outage, last evening, was short enough to be a simple aggravation. We have enough new snow to mess up the groomed trails in the area, and the lane will require clearning; about the tenth time in the last month. Nothing serious. If I needed to walk to a neighbour’s home, I could. I won’t, but I could .Choice compared to necessity. Ditto for the dog, who shows no inclination to visit anywhere else.
