Readying for the don’t care games
On the news, a heads-up that the Games are about to begin. I’m sorry; what games? Seems that two years before the mast of a pandemic have eraased aby memories of the event. Sorry, events.
Locally, I could hardly find a hill high enough to hold a ski event for a two year old. Call us flatlanders. As for the sliding events, our driveway was suited for a day or so, but the big blue machine came by and ruffled the surface. Is dog-sledding an event? I watched the dog slide off the front step, and he seemed keen to get a medal. Or a dog biscuit.
No matter. Even in a venue a half world away, on the flip side of the clock, someone will be watching. Not spectators; they didn’t make the cut. But collecting statistics is its own reason for being. Can’t have a hold in the holy lists. I’d wave my 5-circle flag, but you need a license to make one.
Meanwhile. There’s always a meanwhile. Son #3 is working all weekend, providing meals in boxes to the civli authorities. Apparently some trucks are stopping by, now that Ottawa has worn out their welcome (or maybe the opposite). Now it’s the turn of various provincial capitals. Hint: SK will take you in. Just stay on the TCH until flatness sets in. As for the rest of the world, this is now an old story. Unless something really important happens (illegal parking of a truck doesn’t count), the Freedom Convoy will be an odd footnote in Canadian history. Even the Go-Fund-Me fund is now going to help out those whho seriously miscalculated how much it might cost to take a weeklong vacation in Ottawa.
Our requests to get a propane delivery remain at the request level. Nothing more. I did go online, and I now believe that we have a pair of 100 pound cylinders. That, after pulling up old bills going back to the original installation. The company doesn’t ever specify the size, but you can ask Google and get the dimensions of different tanks. A few minutes of calculation and the question is answered. Now to get a truck in the driveway. For a utility, they are reluctant to take our money. Odd.
