;with a young couple of Brits. They are driving their camper van from Canada to Aregntina, and we “got together” back when they first arrived in the Maritimes. Today, the trip crossed into FL. Not a considtent schedule, but it does give me ideas (and hope) for the future.

The first family member to test the latest iteration of the weather was the dog. His job. Our chilly rain has shifted into something more likely to persist. We don’t have a full snow vocabulary, but I’ve heard the word “shnoot” used, with a very derfoatory tone, to explain new snow that is cold, sticky, slippy, in your face.

The holiday season is underway. What caught my attention was an advertisement for a concert in a local church hall. Concerts come and go. This also mentioned a cake auction, and with that my interest was piqued.

Guitar players know that sound: “PING”. I am a rookie, despite years of ownership, so when I made a slight tuning adjustment and a spring lost its mind, I was not surprised. Now, I have to find those extra sets of strings that I purchased in anticipation (years ago), find my peg puller pliers and change out the set. The strange period leading up to winter solstice. When I would leave for work, in the dark. Spend the day in artific ial light. And then return home, in the dark. A northern hemisphere twilght, where colours were muted. Where the air was chill. Where even the bus brought comfort. Good times, I guess.

Parade day, locally. Now, I wasn’t there, but someone else in the house had a reserved seat on the platform of a float. It seems that waving at the world is not optional. With that, I guess the holiday has started. Once comment was that there were a huge number of children along the parade route. I’m going to attribute that to schools being closed on a Saturday.

A word of praise (not the churchy kind) for people that create educational videos. At least, the good ones. The content is not always great, but I have come across some exceptional ones. As you can guess, I’m watching instructions for things that I don’t actually own. Being prepared. I now know how to test and change the capacitor on an outdoor air conditioner, if ever the need arises.
