Assured the end of winter

posted in economy, photography |

Winter is over. I’ve made sure, by going over and paying off my snow removal contract for the season. Any further accumulation can just hug the ground until the melt finishes. Am I afraid of a sudden resurgence? Nah.

Knowing the best moment to make such a payment has left me sleepless. If I go too early… If I go too late, I might be perceived as a poor debt risk. Reputation counts, when depending on a stealth tractor. Above all else, I don’t want to get put on a “call when you need me” basis, as introverts shy away from excessive telephony. That’s been a limiting factor in other interest sectors. I hesitate to call CQ, for fear of an answer. I hesitate to seek out concert moments, for fear of not playing loudly enough (that dates back to my tuba period, but still).

Meanwhile, the snow IS gone, pretty much. I can see the garden beds, and the efforts to fertilize by his Hairyness, and the piles of seed shells left by a winter of fauna. Going to need some steady rain, followed by a growth spurt to hide away all the traces.

Another new camera body in today’s post. Works like those that have come before. Already completed the required firmware upgrades, and registration, and application of a glass/plastic shield over the LCD. Guess there’s not much else for the new owner to do now, except to point and shoot for posterity. No new lenses, though. Unless the manufacturer awakens my LBS, we’re safe on that point.
