Resigned to the wired solution
Next on my list of small purchases: a good length of Cat 5 cable. After spending the afternoon, concentrated on the “what is wrong with this webcam?” question, I think the answer is clear. My wifi just isn’t getting from one end of the house, through a series of walls and out to the garage. Ergo, the camera gets confused and gives up on the goal.
As much as I hate dragging wire from here to there, it would solve the problem. Won’t be this week, but perhaps by early March my webcam will be constant. A goal worth waiting for. I’ve learned more about configuring poorly documented server functions. I’ve beaten the problem with the camera to Win 10 store, and my FTP upload solution is elegant. Just the cable, please.
While others went off to slide on a nearby hill, I was concentrated. In the old days, I might have gone for peer input, around the office. Now, I have to do things. Alone.
Happened across an old photo of an old dog. One of ours, naturally. Somehow, I don’t miss the animal the way I might have: a recalcitrant spirit, replaced by a dog that actually knows we’re alive. Even if it is in the middle of the night.
There was an article, earlier this week, pointing out that the housing market in Vancouver is “crazy”. As in, people will pay for hovels, as long as they can knock things down and get newer. With enough money, problems go away. Scary to think that a million dollars MIGHT buy you something to demolish.
