Superb owl?
Here it is: one of the most important sports days in North America. With the population on standby for the half-time show (still more than 90 minutes away), I checked on Twitter to see what the sentiment might be.
Confused, actually. Is this the “soup or bowl sundae” serving, or a day dedicated to “superb owl” photos? The birds win that round, as may well the one side in the upcoming football struggle. Someone even managed to turn this into a quasi-political thing, mentioning that the leader of one side wasn’t there because he was the most popular… married to a foreign model… incredibly self-possessed. Yes, Mr. Brady does come wrapped in controversy.
In any case, I’m trying to decide if I want to thaw a box of BBQ wings, given that I’d be the only taker of the delicacy. Where are my kids, when I need them. My siblings are into this whole football Sunday pastime in a way that I’ve never understood (except for those Favre years, with the Packers.) Times past, for that pastime.
I’ll probably wait my turn for the TV remote, or simply wait until the halftime show is available in archived form. After all, the songs will sound just as good, tomorrow, or the day after. Who wins the trophy is not important (if the Packers are excluded). I’d own one of their jerseys, except for the cost and the limited opportunity to wear it in public. Maybe next year.
I did find some interesting political commentary on the web. More fun than football, as a spectator sport.
