I deserve an award, too
It’s been a few days; hardly enough to tell if the trend will continue, but… the new leader has managed to make his country great again. A great source of humour. Go ahead. Check out social media. Or mainstream media. Or late night TV. Rarely have so many comedic routines written themselves. And who knows what tomorrow may bring?
Meanwhile, we’re into an evening of light freezing rain. The prophets (aka forecasters) maintain that locally we’ll miss the best/worst of it, but the warnings are clear. Stay home. Fill the tub. Prepare the candles and the storm chips. I hear you. Just not going to get all excited and try giving the dog a new watering hole, though. We live with (a) genny, and life is good.
Actually, there was a message from son #3, who finds himself in the offputting position of having to attend classes today. Not only is he seriously out of (studying) shape, but every school save his is closed due to inclement weather. Sort of a reverse envy. I remember, all too well, waiting for the announcement that “we are closed for the day”. Didn’t always come through. Now the pain passes to a new generation.
Today, the list of Oscar nominations was released, and to my surprise, I recognized the main contender titles. The truest sign that I’m part of a great consumer mass. Now to keep the interest up for another complete month until the actual ceremonies. And to think that I’d forgotten the tension that goes along with a process in which I have no role. I deserve an Oscar, for that alone.
