Just passing through

posted in environment |

Some things are more free than others. The corollary: some things just cost more than I’m willing to pay. After another successful day of Plex experimentation, I decided to see what other tricks were possible.

There is an iOS app, and it works much the same way as the Roku channel. That is, I start my media server, and I see the available content. The difference, small but crucial, is that the iPad allows one minute of “watch me” time before requiring a subscription login. I checked, and the ongoing cost is far beyond my means or desires.

Anyhow. something to play with (and then erase).

This afternoon, we watched the latest Call The Midwife episode out of the UK. Today, we went to South Africa, at a time when the roaming police patrols had a very clear take on who could sit with who. A depressing recollection. As well, a reminder that civil engineering is not equally applied, across the globe, and babies are fragile (yes!). First time I’ve ever seen a movie version of a C-section. Not as expeditious as the real thing…

The neighbour’s dog passed by, this afternoon. Left a personal calling card, up by the treeline, and then politely refused a dry biscuit (which our pooch was only too glad to recuperate). That dog was here, on day one, but not seen often since.  No more wandering through the kitchen… In passing, the house has been here, in a more-or-less complete version, for two years already. How time passes!
