In the early morning sun and snow
A powdering of fresh snow, in the morning sun: irresistible.
The only frown was on a postal worker’s face, when it was obvious that my driveway hadn’t been “cleared”. No depth, but somewhat like unknown waters, the drive right in reflex is tempered, seasonally. What might have been fine two days ago (it was, for the same person) was now scary.
The delivery? A replacement satellite receiver which I’ve plugged in and resigned myself to waiting several hours while something happens. Actually, my trust level is very low: if the satellites were out of sight before, they’re still… you know… I’ll call, eventually, and spend time going through the menu screens. What happens next is unclear.
Put the afternoon into software installations and upgrades on the new machine. My transfer had jammed, part way through the night, when the wifi on the laptop quit and went to sleep. I did the required reset, and eventually got to a point where I believe that the good stuff now exists in two places (old and new machines).
What else of note? Not much. A quiet afternoon, with the usual courier drops. We really are online consumers. Going into the city, to a box store is no longer viewed as productive. Plus, the price of gas just ramped up. On other (parallel) tracks, the propane delivery promised by email for “this week” hasn’t happened. Guess I’ll rattle their cage, the first part of next week. A just in case shake, because one never knows when the lights might go out.
