Seeing sails set

posted in environment, food |

In my world, there are great meals, good meals and then those where I lacked any sense at all. Those cheesy hotdogs that I served for supper were really an impulse purchase, and now I resolve to avoid such occasions of nutritional sin, in future. To the rest of the household, mea culpa.

What’s the deal with Environment Canada and the frost warnings? Last night, the temperature plummeted to about 10C; not exactly what I would have used as a definition.  There are things, in the garden, that probably appreciate the fresh air. Another sign of weather fear; the permission to use studded tires, as of last weekend. I don’t own studs, have no intention to purchase a set, and I realize that the poor old pavement won’t be improved by punching tiny holes in the surface. Ditto for my driveway, even if the crushed stone isn’t likely to notice (unless I decide to “peel out”).

I’ve been watching the new Beatles movie, a bit at a time. This is actually a documentary, with no new content, so far. A lot of footage of four moptops mugging for the cameras. Yes, they’re the Beatles. No, music didn’t stop evolving when they retired, although the Beeb (not the BBC) is a sign that civilization is only a heartbeat away from meltdown.

Still hoping to see El Galeon Andalucia sail by. The little information available on my preferred AIS site is that the ship is still moored in Georgetown, with no indication of departure or direction. I figure that any destination other than the Gulf means slipping by my window. I’d love to see a tall ship, with all sails furled.

[delay] Guess not. The ship is sailing due south, through the Canso Strait right now.
