Cheap but inspired cables

posted in food, technology |

Boomer treated us to a new mashup of word during the weather forecast this evening: “tornadic vorticities”. As soon as I decipher the term, I’ll post a definition.

My own day started partway through the night, when the desire for sleep turned into the desire to find the best price for a long extension cord. My original, sleepless quest was to see what a pair of speaker cables would cost me. After checking the usual sources (eBay, the music store, the local hardware emporium website), I had a flash of clarity. Why not go for wires that are designed to be walked over.

Of course! A long extension cord. The shopping continued, in earnest. No need for a third wire. No need for fancy illuminated connectors (destined to be thrown away). And when I arrived in the city at the big box store, long before my first coffee, I knew exactly what to bring home. Fifty feet of heavy extension cord sells for less than an equivalent “speaker cable”, and as soon as my “bag of phone plugs” arrives from the Chinese eBay vendor, my monitors will be unpacked for use. Finally.

I had other things to do in the city, and by carefully planning my arrivals to coincide with open hours, I managed to get my two pairs of spectacles (they had to fit new lenses to my current frames, and happily it all “got done” this morning.) I purchased two pairs of jeans in a sale, and there’s more frozen lasagna and cabbage rolls in the freezer for the next time I’m hungry and without inspiration.

With the shopping complete, I was home before noon.
