New shore roads
I made an early start, to get through my “to do” list. Off with the dog to the garage before anyone else was awake, in order to get an oil change and one of those oh-so-necessary windshield stickers that proclaims the mechanical fitness of my vehicle. All that, for less than $50 is a deal!
The dog and I had to spend some time while the work got done, so we headed down the side road that we’d never taken before. The shore road. And at the bottom, a whole industrial compound for oyster spat. To be fair, I know next to nothing about the procedures, but I now have a better idea about the physical size of those floaters that fill the lagoon.
In the early afternoon, half of the extended family left for the city. Those of us, left behind, got a call to bring some forgotten meds from the kitchen freezer, and so the whole gang ended up in a parking lot for an impromptu ice cream social. Also, a quick shopping stop, before heading over to join yet another section of the extendeds… supper in the country.
The dog and I continued our wandering ways, taking another shore road to see what lay beyond the familiar gatepost. Curious buildings, in one driveway.
A kitchen party ensued, with twinned guitars, a couple of folksong books and some extended chatter. Fun, albeit not something I do often. We stayed late, and then made the trip home to make beds, relax and prepare for whatever tomorrow brings.
