Combined age numbers

posted in sports |

It must be summer: two days in a row with ME driving into the city. Let’s face it, that bears witness to the designated driver of our rig being “otherwise engaged”.

Today, I had to provide a ride to the oldest one in our circle. Odd, how age creeps up on us. Last evening, the combined experience of the three oldest was good for 250 years! Today, the number decreased, but I’m aware of just how the age odometer keeps on ticking.

We were bound for a good restaurant meal, and Papa Joe’s provided that. I opted for a Mediterranean Platter, that turned out to be wonderful. As in, “do this again, soon” kind of wonderful. Consider this as my own personal Yelp about a great place to eat!

Outside, the weather is damp and more than a bit misty. On the way into town, I had daylight on my side, but the trip home was like wading through cottony mush. Keep those headlights clean and ON, even during the day.

Watched a bit of the heavy lifting from the Games (it was on, in the background at the restaurant). Scary bizness! I keep thinking that I wouldn’t get one corner off the mat, and here these people are with an over the head and away approach to life. Again and again.

I’d turn on the TV and watch the 100 m sprints, except that with average times of just under ten seconds, I’d not have time to get the channel set before I’d be doomed to watching the instant replay. I also missed the marathon, but that’s a different issue.
