Duly warned

posted in technology |

The warning light on the dashboard let me know that there was imminent danger. Without replacement, our whole way of life might be affected. Yes, the odour filter on our icebox was due for change.

Just finding one for sale turned out to be challenging; although the unit appears to be standard across many models, most places are unable to furnish one, on demand or otherwise. I finally had to go with an international order. The job is now done, giving me six months to find a dealer closer to home.

A truck pulled into the driveway today, and then left. Sighted it several moments later, below the house. And then, back in the driveway. An unexpected visit from the landscaper, checking to see how his efforts looked after the winter. Pretty good, actually. He has suggested that we get the lawn fertilized, which makes sense, and that we consider the red sorrel which is cropping up here and there. We’ll see.

How about the story which has the national media paying attention: the shooting of a gorilla, in a zoo, because a child had broken into the zoo enclosure. Dumb question of the afternoon: Would the zoo be posting additional signs?

My suspicion is that neither a gorilla nor a small child will take the time to “read and heed”. Blame it on the system of education, no matter the species.

The departure date for son #3 is getting closer by the minute. Not ready for this one. Going to change the daily dynamics here, and not in a positive sense.
