Home improvements, at a price
If you were looking for me, this afternoon, I wasn’t home. Of course I am back now, and I didn’t find your note, so I guess we’re good. This was a day in the city for the family, although the dog (on car duty) may have found it less amusing than the rest of us. There has been a trade show scheduled on my calendar for several weeks now; today was the day to go and see where we could spend more money.
More exactly, a home improvement show, where the various manufacturers and contractors line up to show us how wonderfully equipped they all are to make our lives easier. That included “our” house store, where we are seen as satisfied customers; after all, we were friendly, even jovial. That might be because we were away from home for the day.
Among the cool stuff on display: a better sump pump solution… new stairs to the basement… a chance to actually touch an ICF block… a telescopic flag pole (as if!)… solar panel arrays… heat pumps galore (again, we came across as satisfied customers at one booth). There were lots of upscale products, including steel roof hardware, and real rock panels for the outside walls. A whole lawn covered in floating dock material, should this global melting thing turn my world into Waterworld.
And in another area, my first chance to eyeball two 3D printers. Yes, I’m interested in purchasing a solution to a problem I don’t have. Met up with some of the members from the local ARC (people I already knew, actually).
We also stopped at the local farmers’ market, where sensory overload was the byword. And, everywhere, friends. That was the coolest part of the whole trip.
