Napping from home

posted in health |

As we listen to a short documentary, produced by one of the “kids” that used to hang around our house with my sons, I’m encouraged. His work was exemplary, and proof that even those “kids” can accomplish great things; progress didn’t grind to a halt once we (the people of my generation) stepped out of harness. Bravo!

Which leads to an obvious question: what would I do differently, if presented with an instant replay. And, of course, allowed to use all of my experience gained through “many years in the workplace”? Not sure, yet. I know that it takes a lot more to offend the people at the top of the organigramme than I ever offered. Maybe I could push the envelope, pretend to know more than I do (did) (whatever).

There are those who believe (and preach) that I have years ahead of me, that my most productive period may still be ahead. I have certain doubts, now that I’ve discovered the empowerment of random naps. That habit is frowned upon in the traditional workplace. Proof: although I requested, year after year, to have a hammock hung behind the server racks, the purchase order was never cut.

I do have the privilege of working from home, now. Or napping from home, as I prefer. A lot more daylight hours than I need for the personal worklist at this time. Note I haven’t mentioned anyone else’s worklist… common sense is also a reward for those who live long. Anyhow, enough chatter about my potential for good. I need to demonstrate my good intentions.
