Dazed and confused

posted in Idol, travel |

I’ve stayed close to home, all day today. Waiting for a delivery (that hasn’t arrived). Not of much interest, to anyone. What’s odd is that I’ve been “tracking” this particular box, using the fine state-of-the-art tools provided by a very large firm. I’m sure they know their business, much better than most.

Still, I wonder. When the package left Toronto, on Wednesday, the delivery date was clear. Today. Friday. And their message hasn’t changed. However, the note that there was a delay due to routing, followed by a check in at their depot in British Columbia, shows that even the big guys get dazed and confused. I don’t think they deliver on weekends, or holidays; the package may get here on Tuesday. If I wasn’t paying double the amount of the actual purchase for the transportation fees, I might feel less irked. Now, I just wonder “who can I call?”

One of my friends believes that the Twitterverse cares about such things. We shall see.

Tonight, thanks to the marvel of PVR and timeshifting, I’ve watched the week of Idol. Twelve came in, and five went out the back door. There’ll be a similar paring down to size, next week. At that point, the real game will begin. Some surprising talent, already. The kind that I’d put on my personal music player, if I still carried one of those.

You see, about the same time that I “gave up” cellphone service, I also retired music in my pocket. Walking around the house with earbuds in just makes the dog go “Huh?” with his best Scooby-Doo imitation.
