The magic of expanding foam

posted in genealogy, travel |

While the data elves stir today’s gleanings from the various genealogy sites, I’ll take a pause to get my post written. I’ve taken on (yet another) basic family tree research for a friend, but the going is slow. Until this time last year, the provincial archives were always there, to give me alternate views into the records. Now, I’m down to my own resources and Google. Not willing to spend money with the Ancestry people, just yet.

This is an odd day. Herself is on a roadtrip to see the other kids, with a departure long before the “dawn’s early light”. Yes, the rest of us did sleep after the car left the pad, albeit briefly. There is stress when a member of the house is away like this; winter weather requires special attention and a hint of good luck (whatever that is). Getting word that she had arrived was received with great joy.

This was also a day to put the season in order. You know, store the party atmosphere and hunker down for the long wait until spring. There are high winds and rainfall coming, tomorrow, so I finally learned about the magic of expanding foam. Pretty easy, as long as you get your cleanup steps done before the stuff sets up hard as rock. I think I managed, but the baptism will be tomorrow.

We’re into “man meals” for the next few days. Pizza in mid-afternoon, and tasty leftovers for supper. No need to really cook until we’re really hungry. Besides, that my stirfry tasted positively Thai came as a plus. Sorry, no little cardboard boxes on hand…
